NOKIA 2.3 IS RECEIVING ANDROID 10 UPDATE

Image
Image via GSMArena HMD is among the best companies when it comes to providing faster Android updates. The company already has released several Android 10 updates for older and newer devices. Now, Nokia 2.3 is getting the same treatment. Of course, the fact that most of Nokia devices are part of Android One devices with vanilla Android clearly helps and ensures that an OEM needs to deploy two-year of major Android updates. However, not every company in this competitive industry is going well with the Android One program (Xiaomi, we’re looking at you). ‌ ‌  Even HMD is aware of the fact that it sits as one of the best in deploying Android releases. The company quoted an analyst in Counterpoint research that revealed that the Finnish company’s smartphones are the fastest in getting newer Android releases. The Nokia 2.3 now is getting the aforementioned update complete with Family Link and Focus Mode, both are Nokia-exclusive features. Image via GSMAreana ‌ Besides the Nokia-proprietar...

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Could Beat Apple’s iPhone 12

Image
Image credit: Forbes The iPhone-maker appears to be seriously suffering from COVID-19-related supply chain issues, with delays to its iPhone SE (we’ve seen two rumoured release dates pass by) and reported delays to the iPhone 12. This is partially down to factory shutdowns and – as analysts have suggested – Apple not wanting to release its most important iPhone against the backdrop of a massive global pandemic and weaker demand. Almost as if it’s living in an alternate timeline, Samsung has had virtually no release-related issues. The full S20 lineup made its way to shelves across the world in February (read my thoughts on the S20 Ultra and the Galaxy Buds+). Now, a new report suggests that Samsung is on schedule to launch its Galaxy Fold 2 and Note 20 this summer.   How is Samsung managing to stay on schedule? It was tight lipped when I asked how future launches would be affected by the outbreak, simply saying “we are making our best effort to minimise impact on our operation...

Image
Oppo A92s|Image from GSMArena Oppo Is going to introduce a smartphone named A92s, which should be the first device in the A-line to have a high screen refresh rate. It will be a mid-range model that will receive a 6.57-inch LCD display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. It should work on the basis of the MediaTek Dimensity 800 processor with 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of internal UFS 2.1 memory and 5G support. ‌ The rear camera, consisting of four sensors and a flash, will be framed in a square block. The A92s will have a main sensor with a resolution of 48 MP, wide-angle at 8 MP and two more at 2 MP. On the front, in a hole in the upper left corner there will be a dual front camera. OPPO A92s mid-range smartphone with 5G support is coming soon Now, the OPPO A92s with the model number of PDKM00 have passed through the Geekbench benchmarking portal showing the performance of the Dimensity 800 5G chip. The phone scored 2504 in the single-core test and 8130 in the multi-core test. And according to Geek...

IPHONE 9(iPhone SE 2020) to be released on 15 April

Image
Iphone SE 2020 | photo via GSMArena     Probably April 15 A cheaper alternative to the iPhone 11 (above) could be about to launch (Image credit: Future) We’ve heard a few possible iPhone 9 launch dates rumored, some of which have been and gone – but one that’s still to come is April 15, and it's now looking more and more likely. First put forward by Jon Prosser (a leaker with a solid track record) a couple of weeks ago, he has stuck with that date, reiterating it recently. He does add that it’s possible that Apple would switch to April 14 to throw off OnePlus, as that’s the day the OnePlus 8 range is due to launch. In either case, the iPhone 9 (or iPhone SE 2020 as it might be called) would likely then ship around a week later on April 22, according to Prosser. Go-to GSM Arena for full review While this is still just a rumor for now, it’s one that has recently been backed up by another source, as an analyst very recently claimed that the iPhone 9 would arrive in the middle of...

WHY SPEND SO MUCH ON APPLE AIRBUDS WHEN YOU CAN GET THESE?

Image
Image via TRONSMART website I’ve discovered a pair of Apple AirPod-style earbuds  tick almost every box and are super affordable.  If you’ve ever had palpitations at the thought of entrusting a pair of Apple AirPods to your kids, then these new earbuds from Tronsmart will be music to your ears. Another thing in their favor is they look and feel almost look as good as a pair of AirPods; they sound pretty good as well, despite selling for a fraction of the price of AirPods. Tronsmart’s Onyx Ace are brand-new pair of earbuds that incorporate a Qualcomm QCC3020 Bluetooth chipset and that means they can support both apt-X and AAC audio codecs, as well as the standard SBC protocol. Both apt-X and AAC codecs deliver a better quality of sound than the regular SBC. Apple iOS users only have access to AAC, but Android users can choose apt-X or AAC. Using the better codecs means you get a better sound with more detail and a soundstage that feels less squashed. The Onyx Ace true wireless...

FACEBOOK ADD QUIET MODE TO THE LATEST UPDATE

Image
Facebook recognizes that it’s important to take a break from social media not only for spending time with family or productivity, but also for mental health. Because of this, it’s added a new “Quiet Mode” timer to help curb your time on the Facebook app. Enabling Quiet Mode will mute notifications for the time you specify. If you try to open the app during Quiet Mode, you’ll be reminded that you’re still in Quiet Mode with a shortcut to manage its settings. We couldn’t find the new option anywhere on Android, but it may perhaps be available on the iOS version of the app already. Image via GSMArena There’s no doubt that many online services are seeing their capacities stretched to their limits.  Netflix , TikTok, and even  YouTube  have already decreased their default stream quality in an effort to compensate for additional traffic. In addition,  Facebook  has indeed struggled with keeping its lights on. Facebook Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp (all owned by F...
